Modern day explorers head for the Best Western Queen's Hotel's next door neighbour Sensation Science Centre, Voted Scottish Family Attraction of the year in the 2003 Good Britain guide. Sixty interactive exhibits for youngsters aged 4 to 94 explore the five human senses.

Another historic wooden ship worth a visit is the 46-gun H.M. Frigate UNICORN, built in in 1824. Berthed at the Victoria Dock close to the City Quay shopping centre, you can combine sightseeing and shopping with ease.

For sheer fun, perfectly blended with a little water and Scotland's national drink - whisky - the Famous Grouse Experience at Glenturret Distillery, Crieff, is a real treat worth savouring.

Aviation buffs will be sure to visit the Montrose Air Base and Museum, which celebrates ninety years of aviation history since the Base opened in 1913. Dundee is a very child-friendly city with lots to entertain young visitors. Camperdown Park and Wild life Centre and it's near neighbour Jungle Kids indoor play centre, are great ways to fill a day out.

Look out for Kerr's Minature Railyway in Arbroath, and the Caledonian Steam Railway, which preserves the Victorian period charm of the former Strathmore line between Brechin and Bridge of Dun.
