Day Trips from Dundee

Dundee makes an excellent base for touring around and the surrounding areas in Angus and Perthshire offer up even more to do for visitors looking to explore Scotland.  Here are some of our highlights.

PERTHSHIRE

For sheer fun, perfectly blended with a little water and Scotland's national drink - whisky - the Famous Grouse Experience at Glenturret Distillery, Crieff, is a real treat worth savouring. More on The Famous Grouse website.

ANGUS

Aviation buffs will be sure to visit the Montrose Air Base and Museum, which celebrates ninety years of aviation history since the Base opened in 1913.  More on Montrose Air Base website.

Look out for Kerr's Minature Railyway in Arbroath, and the Caledonian Steam Railway, which preserves the Victorian period charm of the former Strathmore line between Brechin and Bridge of Dun. More on Kerr's Railway website.

HIGHLAND GAMES

A visit to Scotland during the summer months just isn't complete without a visit to one of the many Highland Games. Running from May through to September, The Best Western Queen's Hotel is a perfect base from which to enjoy taking in a few of these amazing spectacles. Details of Scotland's Highland Games can be found here on their website.

BIG EVENTS

The spectacular Glamis Castle Open Air Proms and the Glamis Castle annual Scottish Vintage Rally are well worth a diary date.

East coast maritime culture is celebrated in the annual Arbroath Seafest. Music fans have much to indulge themselves with, amongst other, the Hairst Music Festival, the Dundee Guitar festival and the Blues Bonanza.
